GUESS WHAT GUESS WHAT GUESS WHAAAAAAAAAAAT!!! So I totally overhauled my query letter one last time before I sent out another flurry of e-queries AND YOU KNOW WHAT?!?! The next morning THIS appears in my inbox:

"Dear Ginger,

Sounds intriguing. Please send the first 30 pages and a synopsis as attachments in Word to this email address.

So yeah, I think my new query letter is definitly good. So I sent my stuff and she said she'd get back to me in 3 to 6 weeks.

YAAAAAY! I recieved a positive response within only a month of sending out queries! And even if this agent decides she doesn't want to represent my book, at least I know it's good enough to catch people's attention, so it has a chance of findng a home.

Hey everyone! I'm a week late again in posting my weekly snippet. This one's pretty long so I made it a deviation. You can read it here. [link]

I rewrote my query letter and will send out a bunch more emails to more agents after Thursday evening. In the meantime I have to work on a speach (about writing books and trying to get them published) for a local bookclub, where I was volunteered to be the guest speaker. So yeah. I can't wait until Thursday is over, cuz I've been procrastinating my speachy thing for quite some time.

Wow, I’m really lagging this month! I’ve been working on Christmas presents for my two youngest nieces (which will probably take until Christmas Eve) and I’ve been editing stuff in my manuscript. Maybe I’ll post some pictures from their Christmas presents, just to show I still have a pulse and am still capable of drawing.

I didn’t get any rejections from agents this week! But I didn’t get any requests for my manuscript either.

As for this week’s snippet, this was another difficult chapter to pick a snippet from, because it revealed too many little surprises in the story. So, you’re stuck with a short, boring conversation again in this one.

Ferin and Lars have just met Azura, and she is untying them because…they were tied up for some reason.

Book 1 Chapter 6 “Azura”

“There you have it, then,” she lectured as she unbound Ferin. “If you’re going to learn to say something, learn to say it correctly. All right, there you go.”
Ferin’s eyes widened even more as he stood and saw that this lanky woman was just as tall as he was.
“Here, have some.” Azura offered the marshmallows to the men as she helped herself to another one, talking with her mouth full. “Ish not ash if I poishoned dem.”
Ferin, tentative, pulled off one of the squishy tan ones, examined it, and took a little bite. It was surprisingly sweet. Lars agreed. Azura smiled, pleased. “They’re good cold, too. There’s a plastic bag by the fire chock full of them. Help yourselves.”
Forgetting their shoes and weapons, the men hurriedly joined Azura around the fire. They did not bother to wonder where she had gotten the willow sticks as she handed a couple to them. They stuck marshmallows on the ends and were immediately engaged in conversation.
“So how do you know our names?” Ferin wondered, his marshmallow already aflame. It went unnoticed, as he was gaping at Azura.
“Oh, nothing. I’m magic,” was the passive reply.
“Really? Like a Witch?” Lars asked.
“Oh, no. I’m not a Witch. I’m an Enchantress.”
“Really?” Ferin goggled in amazement.
“Well, I’m working on it.” A tinge of red appeared in her cheeks. “I’m still taking Enchanting lessons. I’ll be done with them soon, though. I’m just on a little vacation and then I go back to lessons in a couple days.”
“Yes, Milady, I...” Lars began and....
“Oh, no. Not ‘Milady,’” Azura insisted. “I refuse to answer to such. ‘Azura’ is my name, so please use it.”

Hooray for marshmallows!
