This was a joke my sister and I discussed over the phone. She was painting a picture of a tractor for our dad, and she was asking me what to put in the "Artist's Comments." First of all, it was 1:00 in the morning so my thinking was less-effective, and second of all, what do you say about a tractor? So I told her to say "I painted it with my tears.!!!"
And things went downhill from there. Y'know, those times when you spend 10 minutes laughing, hardly able to breath. Yeah, that's what happened.
So I told Liz I'd draw a picture of her painting with her tears if she'd write it in her comments box. So here she is, My sister painting a tractor with her tears.
Go check out her site! You can even look at the picture of the tractor if you want.
That line, "I painted it with my tears", combined with a tractor, sounds like some kind of country-western song. "It wuz only an ol' rusty red tractor, it had seen too many years; but I paid fer it with mah sweat, and painted it with mah tears....!"
Well hey, those lyrics have the same quality as the best country song out there!
You know what, once I had a job where I was forced to listen to loud country music all day long. After several months of such torture I noticed something about country-western --- that all of the songs are about the South! Why insult us westerners by calling all the corny music by cowboy wannabes in the South country western? The only western state I heard mentioned was California...like cowboys hang out at the beach or sometihng. It's not that I don't like southerners (some of my best friends have been southerners) and I even likea few country songs. But I still don't see why it's misnamed, thus leading people to believe that those of us who call the West our home are all rhinestone wearing drunk and horny honkytonk luvin' ...folks.
Um...I think I'll go listen to John Denver now. He sings the right kind of country...even though he's dead now.
